We’re excited to have you join us at the Algin Sutton Pool for a fun and engaging training session! Whether you’re a student in training, a certified diver brushing up on skills, or a freediver building comfort in the water, our pool sessions are the perfect place to practice and grow.

🏊 What to Expect at the Pool

Pool sessions are where the adventure begins! This is your chance to get hands-on with scuba or freediving in a safe, supportive environment before heading out to the ocean.

Here’s how the day usually flows:

• Arrive and meet your instructors in the parking lot.

• Set up your gear together and get a full briefing.

• Get into your wetsuit and head into the pool.

• Spend the morning practicing key skills—everything from buoyancy control to out-of-air drills—all at your own pace with instructor guidance.

• Wrap up and change into dry clothes.

💡 If you’re an Open Water 2 student, you’ll have lunch and then meet at the shop at 1:30 PM for your knowledge review and exam session.

⏰ Session Schedule

• Freedivers – 9:00–11:45 AM

  • Bring your own freediving fins, mask, snorkel, and weights (available for purchase at our shop).

• Scuba Students – 8:30 AM–12:00 PM

  • 8:30 AM: Meet instructors in the parking lot

  • 8:45 AM: Gear setup and briefing

  • 9:45 AM: Wetsuit change, enter pool facility

  • 10:00–11:45 AM: Pool training with your instructor

  • 11:45 AM: Wrap-up and change into dry clothes

• Fun Divers – 9:00–11:00 AM window

  • Water entry at 9:30 AM and exit by 11:30 AM

  • Facility cleared by 12:30 PM

During your confined water sessions, you’ll practice skills that prepare you for the ocean, including:

• Basic Water Skills – swimming, snorkeling, weighting, surface skills

• Scuba Skills – breathing underwater, regulator clearing & recovery, mask skills, buoyancy control

• Buddy & Safety Skills – buddy checks, alternate air sharing, tired diver tow

• Emergency Skills – out-of-air drills, emergency ascent practice, equipment removal/replacement

👉 Don’t worry if it looks like a lot—our instructors guide you step by step, and most students are surprised by how quickly the time flies!

👩🏫 Freelance Instructors

Freelance instructors are welcome to join our pool sessions. Entry for instructors is free, but an entry fee per student must be purchased. Full credentials and insurance are required. Please call the shop in advance to set up.

📌 Important Notes

• Add-On: Pool sessions are part of the Open Water or Freediving course, not a standalone certification. Make sure you’ve purchased the course along with your pool session.

• Gear Pick-Up: Divers must pick up all rental gear before the pool session at the shop starting Wednesday to Friday, between 10AM to 7PM. 

• Reminders: After purchasing, your spot is reserved and you’ll receive a reminder email a few days before your session with the address, hours, and details.

• Parking: Free parking is available at Algin Sutton Pool. Follow the instructions in the email. 

• Flexibility: If you see a Saturday or Sunday without a pool session on our calendar, reach out—we may be able to add one for you.

Refundable Equipment Cleaning Deposit

This $40 cleaning deposit is required for all Blue Holic Scuba rental gear.

The deposit is fully refundable when rental equipment is returned rinsed, clean, and free of sand and salt.

How It Works

1. Pay the $40 deposit when picking up rental gear

2. Use and enjoy your dive

3. Rinse equipment with fresh water after use

4. Return gear clean and on time

If the equipment is returned clean, the $40 deposit will be refunded.

When the Deposit Is Kept

The cleaning deposit will be applied if rental gear is returned:

• Covered in sand

• Covered in salt residue

• Not rinsed

• Returned in a condition requiring extensive cleaning

This policy helps us keep rental equipment clean, safe, and ready for the next diver.

• Deposit is per rental order

• Equipment must be returned by the agreed return date

• This deposit is separate from rental fees

If you’ve ever had your mask strap rip hair out when removing your mask, this small upgrade makes a huge difference in comfort.

A dive log book is used by a scuba diver to record the details of dives they have done. This serves many purposes that are both safety focused and personal.

From a purely personal view point, as you progress through your training you should keep a close eye on your air consumption, weighting, and use of equipment. Seeing how you improve and react to different diving conditions and events will help you become an efficient, and safe diver. Only if you log these down will you remember them. Additionally, in your early days, when you go on holiday you should expect to take your log book and certification cards to prove your competence to go diving. A dive center will want to see proof that you can handle the diving conditions.

A log book is also a great way to journal your experiences, sightings, new buddies, travels, and it will serve as a great walk (or swim!) down memory lane.
