Dive Deeper With Confidence
The PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course is designed for certified divers who want to safely explore deeper dive sites—down to 40 meters / 130 feet—with improved planning, awareness, and control.
This course focuses on managing depth-related risks, refining buoyancy at depth, and building confidence in deeper environments common in Southern California.

Where This Course Is Conducted
Deep Diver training is completed in open water and may take place in several environments:
Boat Dives
Most deep dives are conducted on scheduled boat trips, allowing access to deeper reefs, walls, and wrecks.
Offshore Oil Rigs (By Demand)
Some deep training dives may be conducted at Southern California oil rigs, focusing on depth awareness, gas management, and controlled ascents rather than penetration.
Wreck or Wall Sites
When conditions allow, dives may include wrecks or wall-style sites where depth changes quickly and buoyancy control is critical.
Your instructor will select locations appropriate for your experience level and conditions.
What You’ll Learn
During four deep dives, you’ll focus on:

Deep dive planning and personal depth limits

Gas supply management and monitoring

Buoyancy control at depth

Buddy contact procedures

Recognizing and managing nitrogen narcosis

Safety stops and ascent procedures
The first dive of this specialty may count as an Adventure Dive toward the Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
